Effect of 23 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids Supplementation Diet on Insulin Binding, and Generation of Diabetes in STZ-injected Female Rats

Abstract
Background:
@EN The purpose of this study was to know effects of ¥ø-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids supplementation diet on the insulin binding and the generation of diabetes by STZ injection in Sprague-Dawley female rats.
@ES Methods:
@EN Sixteen female rats (control: 9, ¥ø-3 supple: 7 rats) were ramdomly assigned to ragular and ¥ø-3 poyunsaturated fatty acids supplementation diet rats, Dietary supplementation of 0.09% (0.054% EPA, 0.036% DHA) ¥ø-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids
to
regular diet was provided for 8 weeks.
Diabetes was induced by intraperitoneal injection of 35§·/§¸ BW STZ on two consequtive days. Sacrifice of rats were carried out following overnight fasting at 10 day after STZ-injection.
@ES Results:
@EN Insulin binding to the crude plasma membrane from gastrocnemius had tendency to lower in ¥ø-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids supplementation diet rats than that of regular.
Plasma insulin level was higher (p<0.05) in ¥ø-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids supplementation diet rats (31.7¡¾2.83uU/ml) than that of regular ones (28.0¡¾2.65 uU/ml), and blood glucose level was lower(p<0.01) in ¥ø-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids
supplementation diet rats (114¡¾14.5§·/dl) than that of regular ones (51¡¾9.6§·/dl).
Level of the plasma triglyceride, were lowered (p<0.01) in ¥ø-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids supplementation diet rats (42¡¾4.9§·/dl) than that of regular ones(51¡¾9.6§·/dl).
Levels of the plasma total chooesterol, were lowered (p<0.01). in ¥ø-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids supplementation diet rats (42¡¾9.0§·/dl) than that of regular ones (64¡¾16.2§·/dl).
Levels of ¥â-hydroxybutyrate and acetoacetate, metabolites of lipid, were not different between regular and ¥ø-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids supplementation diet rats.
@ES Conclusion:
@EN These results show that the ¥ø-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids supplementation diet may be resist on generation of STZ-induced diabetes partially, and lower levels of plasma triglyceride and cholesterol in STZ-injected female rats.
